On a demandé des bras, on nous a envoyé des hommes

They left their country, their family and their culture to come to Belgium to earn a crust of bread and feed their children. At the time, the country was not in crisis, and there was work for everyone. Today, there are more and more unemployed people, and some don't hesitate to accuse these foreign workers of “stealing jobs from Belgians” or adding to the unemployment lines. In the meantime, these immigrants have grown old, their children have grown up here, they even feel a little Belgian, yet they have little more than when they arrived.  For many, immigration hasn't brought them anything, it's even ruined their lives. It has just enabled them to earn a little more to live on. Testimonies.
