Khiti-Amina Ben Hachem

Born in 1947 in Azrou, Benhachem left Morocco in 1970 to settle in Belgium, where she studied law and then journalism at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). She joined RTBF in 1973 to take charge of the "Ileikoum" programme, part of the "Interwallonie" programme aimed at Arabic-speaking migrants. This was a cultural, social and advice programme which, through reports and personal accounts, tried to reflect the living conditions of migrants. In the 90s, the monthly "Ileilkoum" programme became "Sindbad", a fortnightly magazine broadcast in French, reaching a wider audience made up of immigrant communities as well as Belgians. In 2001, "Sindbad" gave way to a new television programme, "1001 cultures", which ended in 2007.
